ALERT
URGENT: A new travel ban could be imposed imminently and is expected by March 21.
Reports indicate that nationals from Iran and a few other countries may be banned from getting US visas. We advise visa and green card holders from the targeted countries who are traveling to the US to exercise caution in coming days. New security complications could greatly impact travel and entry into the US for nationals from these countries. Review your rights below and have contingency plans ahead of your travel.
President-elect Donald Trump and his key advisors have vowed to bring back the “travel ban” and expand it. As a result, we believe an unjust ban on the issuance of visas to Iranians is once again imminent.
Eight years ago, the first Trump Administration banned visas for Iranians and other nationals following Trump’s calls for “total and complete shutdown” of Muslims entering the United States. NIAC was among the leading groups opposing this unjust and discriminatory policy and pushing to reunite families that had been broken apart.
We are ramping up our efforts to defend the Iranian-American community ahead of any possible return of the ban. Please use this center and share it with your family and friends to inform yourself and find ways to push back.
